The Small Bottlers Crystal Bottling Works
Crystal Bottling Works (1911-1915) Crystal Bottling Works was only listed in two city directories. Crystal was initially listed in 1912 at 306 Hills St. with Francisco L. Negrete as proprietor, although Negrete had previously listed himself as owner of the business under his own name the previous year. Negrete was a grocer as well as a bottler but was not listed in city directories prior to 1911. The second entry occurred three years later in 1915 at 1244 San Antonio St. Porras and Company, operated by Pedro Porras an Ernesto Archer, was listed as proprietor of Crystal in 1915. Neither Porras nor Archer appeared in earlier editions of the city directories. The possibility exists that Negrete neglected to list the company during the intervening years, then sold to Porras & Co. With different addresses and the lack of intervening entries in the directories, it is also possible that the choice of names was incidental, and the two companies were unrelated (EPDC 1911-1915). |
