Registration Requirements
- You must take a placement test prior to
registration if you are new or plan to take any math or English course(s) unless you
have passed the required prerequisite course with a “C” or better. If you have taken
the ACT, bring your scores to Advising to see if you are qualified to skip the
placement tests. If your math or English course is more than three
(3) years old, you should take the placement test for appropriate placement. Tests are FREE. For testing
hours and location, please contact Academic Advising at 575-439-3720.
- All registration “holds” (including "NEW Student & Freshman Holds") must be
cleared by the appropriate office before you can register.
- New and transfer students must see an Academic Advisor before registering. They
assist with course selection, degree plans, schedule building, prerequisites, and make
recommendations based on individual needs.
- Before registering for a course, you are responsible for meeting any prerequisites.
Instructors may check prerequisites for math, English, and science during the
first week of class.
- You must have a my.nmsu.edu account to register online.
- Registering through my.nmsu.edu will not accept the S/U or audit grading option. If you
would like to choose the S/U or audit option, you must register at the NMSU-A Admissions/Records Office.
- Students cannot register online for courses that require instructor approval or for
multiple sections of courses that have the same department and course numbers, such as
OECS 207, Section 83, 84, 85, or OEEM 155, Section 80, 81....
- When using online registration, you can generate a registration document at the
Admissions/Records Office but a picture ID is required.
- New students admitted to the college for the first time should expect a 3-day delay
before being able to register online.
