Ancient History Sourcebook |
The goal of this site is to provide and organize ancient texts for
use in classroom situations. Links to larger online collections are provided
for those who want to explore further. The distinctive feature of its layout
is the avoidance of images and multiple "clicking" to find texts. The site
also includes links to visual and aural material, since art and archeology
are far more important for the periods in question than for later history.
Its primary emphasis is on access to primary source texts for educational
purposes. |

History Sourcebook |
The goal of this site has been to construct a sourcebook of materials
from available public domain and copy-permitted texts. [A few short extracts
from copyrighted works -- abiding by the standard 300 word "fair use" rule
may be posted.] The Sourcebook is in two parts. The first is made up of
fairly short classroom sized extracts, derived from public domain sources
or copy-permitted translations, the second is composed of full documents,
or WWW links to the full documents. |

This site is intended to serve the needs of teachers and students in
college survey courses in modern European history and American history,
as well as in modern Western Civilization and World Cultures. Its
goals are: (1) to present a diversity of source material in modern European,
American, and Latin American history, as well as a significant amount of
materal pertinent to world cultures and global studies, and (2) to present
the material as cleanly as possible, without complicated hierarchies and
subdirectories, and without excessive HTML markup. |
