October’s Art Display

October’s Library Art Display features paintings by Mary Ellen Keith.  Stop on by and take a look!  Also, there will be a artist reception for Mary Ellen on Thursday, October 9th from 3 - 4 p.m.  Refreshments will be served, and as always, this event is open to the public!

One City, One Book

The Friends of the Alamogordo Public Library as well as the Townsend Library at NMSU-A are sponsoring “One City, One Book” for the month of October.  Join us in reading and discussing George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984 and participating in the following programs:

  • October 2 (Thursday) 11:30-1 - Panel discussion in Lunchtime Lecture series on “Orwell and the English Language” by Jim Gallagher, John Haley, and Kim Lopez, at Townsend Library
  • October 7 (Tuesday) 6 PM - discussion group at First National Bank Atrium, led by Amy Rivers
  • October 11 (Saturday), 3-5 PM - Open Mic at Olive Branch
  • October 16 (Thursday) 6:15 PM - discussion group at public library, led by Sunny Willis
  • October 22 (Wednesday) 6 PM - discussion group at Elks Club, led by Allen Stenger (dinner available for purchase)
  • October 23 (Thursday) 12:15 PM - discussion group at NMSU-A, led by Kristina Marzano
  • October 30 (Thursday), Noon - Dave Townsend talk at White Sands Rotary (not open to public)
  • November 1 (Saturday) 1 PM - closing ceremonies (essay and poster contest winners, participant feedback)
  • ONGOING - poster contest; essay contest; NMSU-A mini film festival; public comment
