Databases

Journal, Magazine, and Newspaper Articles are currently most effectively found by searching in a Database. Libraries in general define databases as packages of journal, magazine, and newspaper articles, but also may contain reference information. Databases often have different looks to them and contain varying content. Choose a Database appropriate for your needs and then search it.

General & Broad Coverage

ProQuest Research Library requires username and password
Broad Coverage. Over 2,500 full-text journal and magazines included from 1971 forward.

Academic Search Premier requires username and password
Broad Coverage. Contains indexing for more than 8,200 journals, with full-text for nearly 4,500 of those titles.

InfoTrac PowerSearch requires username and password
Broad Coverage. Search multiple Infotrac-based databases simultaneously. Default set to search all Infotrac subscriptions but can be set to search any combination of choices.

General OneFile requires username and password
Broad Coverage. Over 5,000 full-text journal and magazines from 1980 forward.

Expanded Academic ASAP requires username and password
Broad Coverage. Over 2,000 full-text journals and magazines included.

General Reference Center Gold requires username and password
Broad Coverage although caters to general interests. Includes Reference Sources.

Wilson Select Plus requires username and password
Broad Coverage. Over 2,000 full-text journals and magazines included.

Britannica Online is based on the print edition, Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Business & Company Resource Center requires username and password
Detailed company and industry information, as well as articles from business journals and magazines.

CINAHL Plus with Full-Text requires username and password
Index to journal articles (includes some full-text) in the fields of nursing and allied health.

CQ Researcher requires username and password
In-Depth Weekly Reports on current social and controversial issues.

The Chronicle of Higher Education
Weekly news articles and job listings in the field of academia. To access articles from within The Chronicle website you must have the username and password.

Computer Database requires username and password
Contains approximately 750 publications. Some full-text is available.

ERIC (Education Resources Information Center)
Contains 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials. Contains some links to full-text.

¡Informe! requires username and password
Revistas en Espaņol (Spanish-language magazine database).

InfoTrac Communication & Mass Media requires username and password
Contains over 130 publications related to the fields of communication and mass media. Some full-text is available.

InfoTrac Criminal Justice requires username and password
Contains over 200 publications related to the field of criminal justice. Some full-text is available.

Contains over 140 diversity studies related publications. Some full-text is available.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center requires username and password
