Connecting to the Internet Using Microsoft Windows XP

Notice: It is not the responsibility of the University to install or provide technical assistance in the setting up of software to access the network.  Computer center personnel will not come to your home to assist with the setup process.

Important:  Read through these instructions completely BEFORE attempting to run through the setup.  It could save you a lot of time and frustration.

What's required:

Dial-up Networking

Under Windows XP, the primary way to connect to the Internet (and the way we will use in this document) is using a program called Dial-Up Networking (DUN).  This program is what dials your modem and provides your link to the internet.  Before you can use Dial-Up Networking, it must first be installed on your computer.
