Connecting to NMSU-A using Windows 98 Internet Connection Wizard
Make sure your computer modem is functioning and is properly connected to a phone line.
Click on Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Internet tools -> Internet Connection Wizard.
You will see the box below.
Click in the circle next to to the phrase "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a Local Network (LAN)". Then click on the button. (See picture below)
Click in the circle next to the phrase "I connect through a phone line and a modem". Then click on the button.
Type in the number for connecting to NMSU-A (439-5761).
Make sure there is no check mark in the box for "Dial using the area code and country code".
Click on the Advanced button on the screen. (See picture below)
Under connection type in Advanced Connection Properties make sure the circle next to the phrase "PPP (Point to Point Protocol)" is selected.
Click on the addresses tab.
Under IP Address make sure the circle next to the phrase "Internet service provider automatically provides one" is selected.
Under DNS server address click in the circle next to the phrase "Always use the following".
In the Primary DNS server window type 128.123.3.5 and in the Alternate DNS server window type 128.123.2.19.
Click on the OK button. Click on the button. (See picture below)
Type in your NMSU-A network user name and password. Click on the button.
Name your connection (a suggestion is NMSU-A). Click on the button.
Select (NO) when you are asked "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now...", then click on the button.
Make sure there is no check mark in the box next to the phrase "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box...". Then click Finish.
To connect to NMSU-A, open My Computer -- Dial-up Networking -- and double click on the NMSU-A icon.
