NMSU-A Email: kathyrd@nmsua1.nmsu.edu NMSU-A WebPage: http://alamo.nmsu.edu/%7Ekroarkdi/index.html Background / Education Note: Syllabi are provided in MSWord
Office Hours: Monday & Wednesday: 2:30-4:00pm; Tuesday & Thursday: 1:30-4:00pm;and by appointment. Background: As a non-traditional student, I
took my time finding both my area of
study, as well as a career path. I developed into Economics,
Speech
Therapy, Elementary Education and Philosophy until I found that the
formal
study of literature allowed me to explore any or all of these.
I earned my BA in English from
NMSU in 1990 and completed my MA in Literary
Theory in 1992. I have been teaching for NMSU in some capacity
ever
since. Literature is a great passion in my life, especially the
writers
of the turn of the 20th Century---Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Albert
Camus,
Simone de Bouviour, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and T.S. Eliot. In
recent
years, my work in Women's History has greatly influenced my studies in
both
literature and philosophy. Currently, I am studying and writing
on
the literature and philosophy of Iris Murdoch, an influential
intellectual
from the 1960's and 70's.
I consider myself a native New
Mexican, as I moved here with my family with
the military when I was 9. I cannot imagine living anywhere else,
for
very long.
