SUMMER 1 2006 SEMESTER:

Office Hours; Monday & Wednedsay: 3:45-6:45pm; Tuesday & Thursday: 1:00-2:30pm; Thursday (only): 5:15-7:00pm; or by appointment Background: Bill Lockhart first taught part
time at NMSU-A in the summer of 1995 and
continued to teach classes until he won the tenure-track position in
Sociology
two years later. A late bloomer, Lockhart became a student at El
Paso
Community College at the age of 44 in 1988 and transferred to the
University
of Texas at El Paso five semesters later to complete a Bachelor's
Degree
with a double major in Sociology and Anthropology in 1993.
Because
he was so happy with the university, he continued at UTEP for his
Master
of Arts Degree in Sociology (minor in History) in 1995. Lockhart
loves
his students, NMSU-A, Alamogordo, and teaching, and he plans to remain
here
until retirement at the age of 72!. He and his wife, Wanda
Wakkinen,
are avid travelers and keep several pet snakes. In addition,
Lockhart
is an avid Historical Archaeologist and writes books and articles on
his
specialty area, the bottles and bottle-related industries of Southern
New
Mexico, El Paso, Texas, and Juarez, Mexico. He is currently an
Assistant
Professor of Sociology at NMSU-A.
